This one is one of the old video shot during the visit of desert safari(dubai) where highlights of the trip were barbecue and belly dancing. This is really a short clip since I couldn't record much on my 256 mb memory stick. I have uploaded this video on youtube. Check the grace by which this belly dancer is dancing. It's such a beautiful movements of body which will attract anyone's attention.

It is believed by many that this dance started as an ancient ritual dance for fertility and childbirth. The priestesses were sometimes "sacred prostitutes" where they would perform these dances for clients as they invoked the Goddess.

There's sharp contrast in Islamic society as on one side women must cover themselves from head to toe while on the other side ,we see such belly dancing. However,Iran has banned belly dancing stating it's against Islam. Probably other countries might follow the suit. However, I have seen this dance in Dubai which is very liberal country compare to another Islamic countries. Not to mention,Dubai is one of the fav tourist destination so it can not afford to do away with this dance.
